Psalm 108:2-7
My heart is ready, O God; my heart is ready. I will sing, I will sing your praise. Awake, my soul; awake, O lyre and harp. I will awake the dawn. I will praise you, Lord, among the peoples; I will sing psalms to you among the nations, for your mercy reaches to the heavens, and your truth to the skies. O God, be exalted above the heavens; may your glory shine on all the earth! With your right hand, grant salvation and give answer; O come and deliver your friends.

Psalm 115:9-16
House of Israel, trust in the Lord; he is their help and their shield.House of Aaron, trust in the Lord;he is their help and their shield. Those who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord;he is their help and their shield. The Lord remembers us, and he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel. He will bless the house of Aaron. He will bless those who fear the Lord, the little no less than the great. To you may the Lord grant increase,to you and all your children. May you be blest by the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. The heavens, the heavens belong to the Lord, but to the children of men, he has given the earth.

Psalm 62:2-4, 6-9
In God alone is my soul at rest; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock, my salvation, my fortress; never shall I falter. How long will you all attack one man to break him down, as though he were a tottering wall, or a tumbling fence? In God alone be at rest, my soul, for my hope is from him. He alone is my rock, my salvation, my fortress; never shall I falter. In God is my salvation and glory, my rock of strength; in God is my refuge. Trust him at all times, O people. Pour out your hearts before him, for God is our refuge.

Psalm 106:1-5
O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his mercy endures forever. Who can tell the Lord's mighty deeds,or recount in full his praise? Blessed are they who observe what is just, who at all times do what is right.O Lord, remember me with the favor you show to your people. Visit me with your saving power, that I may see the riches of your chosen ones, and may rejoice in the gladness of your nation, boasting in the glory of your heritage.

Psalm 75:2-8, 10-11
We give praise to you, O God; we give praise, for your name is near. We recount your wonderful deeds. "When I establish the appointed time, then I myself will judge with fairness. Though the earth and all who dwell in it may rock, it is I who set firm its pillars. "To the boastful I say, ?Do not boast'; to the wicked, ?Do not flaunt your strength, do not flaunt your strength on high. Do not speak with insolent pride.' " For neither from the east nor from the west, nor from the desert comes honor, for God himself is the judge. One he humbles, another he exalts. As for me, I will rejoice forever, and sing psalms to the God of Jacob. I shall break the strength of the wicked, while the strength of the just will be exalted.

Psalm 47
All peoples, clap your hands. Cry to God with shouts of joy! For the Lord, the Most High, is awesome, the great king over all the earth. He humbles peoples under us and nations under our feet. Our heritage he chose for us, the pride of Jacob whom he loves. God goes up with shouts of joy. The Lord goes up with trumpet blast. Sing praise for God; sing praise! Sing praise to our king; sing praise! God is king of all the earth. Sing praise with all your skill. God reigns over the nations. God sits upon his holy throne. The princes of the peoples are assembled with the people of the God of Abraham. The rulers of the earth belong to God, who is greatly exalted.

Psalm 148:1-6
Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights.Praise him, all his angels;praise him, all his hosts. Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all shining stars.Praise him, highest heavens, and the waters above the heavens. Let them praise the name of the Lord. He commanded: they were created. He established them forever and ever, gave a law which shall not pass away.

Scripture Genesis 12:1-3
The Lord said to Abram: Go forth from your land, your relatives, and from your father's house to a land that I will show you. I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. All the families of the earth will find blessing in you.

Psalm 139:1-10
O Lord, you search me and you know me. You yourself know my resting and my rising; you discern my thoughts from afar. You mark when I walk or lie down; you know all my ways through and through. Before ever a word is on my tongue, you know it, O Lord, through and through. Behind and before, you besiege me, your hand ever laid upon me. Too wonderful for me, this knowledge; too high, beyond my reach. O where can I go from your spirit, or where can I flee from your face? If I climb the heavens, you are there. If I lie in the grave, you are there. If I take the wings of the dawn or dwell at the sea's furthest end, even there your hand would lead me; your right hand would hold me fast.

Psalm 83:2-4, 14-19
O God, do not be silent; do not be still and unmoved, O God. For your enemies raise a tumult; those who hate you lift up their heads. They plot against your people, conspire against those you cherish. My God, scatter them like the whirlwind, drive them like chaff in the wind! As fire that burns away the forest, as the flame that sets the mountains ablaze, drive them away with your tempest, and fill them with terror at your storm. Cover their faces with shame, so that they seek your name, O Lord. Shame and terror be theirs forever. Let them be disgraced; let them perish! Let them know that you alone, you whose name is the Lord, are the Most High over all the earth.

Psalm 29:1-4, 7-11
Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly powers, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.Ascribe to the Lord the glory of his name; bow down before the Lord, majestic in holiness. The voice of the Lord upon the waters, the God of glory thunders; the Lord on the immensity of waters; the voice of the Lord full of power; the voice of the Lord full of splendor. The voice of the Lord flashes flames of fire. The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness, the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh; the voice of the Lord rends the oak tree and strips the forest bare. In his temple they all cry, "Glory!" The Lord sat enthroned above the flood; the Lord sits as king forever. The Lord will give strength to his people, the Lord will bless his people with peace.

Psalm 77:2-4, 11-16
I cry aloud to God, cry aloud to God that he may hear me. In the day of my distress I seek the Lord. In the night my hands are raised unwearied; my soul refuses comfort. As I remember my God, I groan. I ponder, and my spirit faints. I said, "This is what causes my grief: that the right hand of the Most High has changed." I remember the deeds of the Lord, I remember your wonders of old; I muse on all your works, and ponder your mighty deeds. Your way, O God, is in the holy place. What god is as great as our God? You are the God who works wonders. Among the peoples you showed your power. Your strong arm redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.

Psalm 6
O Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger; reprove me not in your rage. Have mercy on me, Lord, for I languish. Lord, heal me; my bones are shaking, and my soul is greatly shaken. But you, O Lord, how long? Return, Lord, rescue my soul. Save me in your merciful love. For in death there is no remembrance of you; from the grave, who can give you praise? I am exhausted with my groaning; every night I drench my bed with tears, I bedew my couch with weeping. My eyes waste away with grief; I have grown old surrounded by all my foes. Leave me, all who do evil, for the Lord heeds the sound of my weeping. The Lord has heard my plea; the Lord will receive my prayer. All my foes will be shamed and greatly shaken, suddenly put to shame.

Psalm 119:97-104
O Lord, how I love your law: my meditation all the day! Your command makes me wiser than my foes, for it is with me always. I have more insight than all who teach me, for I ponder your decrees. I have gained more understanding than my elders, for I keep your precepts. I keep my feet from every evil path, to obey your word. I have not turned away from your decrees, which you yourself have taught me. How sweet is your promise to my tongue, more than honey in the mouth. I gain understanding from your precepts, and so I hate all false ways.

Psalm 76:2-10
God is renowned in Judah; in Israel his name is great. His tent is set in Salem, and his dwelling place in Sion. It was there he broke the flaming arrows, the shield, the sword, the armor. Resplendent are you, more majestic than the everlasting mountains. The stouthearted, despoiled, slept in death; none of the soldiers could lift a hand. At your threat, O God of Jacob, horse and rider lay stunned. You, you alone, strike terror. Who can stand in your presence, against the might of your wrath? You uttered your sentence from the heavens; the earth in terror was still when you arose, O God, to judge, to save all the humble of the earth.

Psalm 27:1-4
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; whom should I dread? When those who do evil draw near to devour my flesh, it is they, my enemies and foes, who stumble and fall. Though an army encamp against me, my heart would not fear. Though war break out against me, even then would I trust. There is one thing I ask of the Lord, only this do I seek: to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord, to inquire at his temple.

Psalm 82
God stands in the divine assembly. In the midst of the gods, he gives judgment. "How long will you judge unjustly, and favor the cause of the wicked? Do justice for the weak and the orphan; give justice to the poor and afflicted. Rescue the weak and the needy; set them free from the hand of the wicked." They neither know nor understand;they walk about in darkness, and all the earth's foundations are shaken. I have said to you, "You are gods, and all of you, sons of the Most High. And yet, like men you shall die; you shall fall, like any of the princes." Arise, O God; judge the earth! For all the nations are yours.

Psalm 32:1-5, 7
Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is remitted. Blessed the man to whom the Lord imputes no guilt, in whose spirit is no guile. I kept it secret and my frame was wasted. I groaned all day long, for your hand, by day and by night, lay heavy upon me. Indeed, my strength was dried up as by the summer's heat. To you I have acknowledged my sin; my guilt I did not hide. I said, "I will confess my transgression to the Lord." And you have forgiven the guilt of my sin. You are a hiding place for me; you keep me safe from distress; you surround me with cries of deliverance.

Psalm 8
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name through all the earth! Your majesty is set above the heavens. From the mouths of children and of babes you fashioned praise to foil your enemy, to silence the foe and the rebel. When I see the heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars which you arranged, what is man that you should keep him in mind, the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him little lower than the angels; with glory and honor you crowned him, gave him power over the works of your hands: you put all things under his feet, All of them, sheep and oxen, yes, even the cattle of the fields, birds of the air, and fish of the sea that make their way through the waters. O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name through all the earth!

Psalm 84:9-13
O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer; give ear, O God of Jacob. Turn your eyes, O God, our shield; look on the face of your anointed. One day within your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. The threshold of the house of God I prefer to the dwellings of the wicked. For the Lord God is a sun, a shield; the Lord will give us his favor and glory. he will not withhold any good to those who walk without blame. O Lord of hosts, how blessed is the man who trusts in you!

Psalm 107:1-3, 10-16
"O give thanks to the Lord for he is good; for his mercy endures forever." Let the redeemed of the Lord say this, those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, and gathered from far-off lands, from east and west, north and south. Some dwelt in darkness and the shadow of death, prisoners in misery and chains, having rebelled against the words of God, and spurned the plan of the Most High. He humbled their heart with toil. They stumbled; there was no one to help. Then they cried to the Lord in their need, and he rescued them from their distress. He led them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their chains to pieces. Let them thank the Lord for his mercy, his wonders for the children of men; for he bursts the gates of bronze, and cuts through the iron bars.

Scripture Deuteronomy 4:1a, 6-8
Now therefore, Israel, hear the statutes and ordinances I am teaching you to observe, that you may live. observe them carefully, for this is your wisdom and discernment in the sight of the peoples, who will hear of all these statutes and say, "This great nation is truly a wise and discerning people." For what great nation is there that has gods so close to it as the Lord, our God, is to us whenever we call upon him? Or what great nation has statutes and ordinances that are as just as this whole law which I am setting before you today?

Psalm 19:2-7
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims the work of his hands. Day unto day conveys the message, and night unto night imparts the knowledge. No speech, no word, whose voice goes unheeded; their sound goes forth through all the earth, their message to the utmost bounds of the world. There he has placed a tent for the sun; it comes forth like a bridegroom coming from his tent, rejoices like a champion to run his course. At one end of the heavens is the rising of the sun; to its furthest end it runs its course. There is nothing concealed from its burning heat.

O Jerusalem, glorify the Lord! O Sion, praise your God! He has strengthened the bars of your gates; he has blessed your children within you. He established peace on your borders; he gives you your fill of finest wheat. He sends out his word to the earth, and swiftly runs his command. He showers down snow like wool; he scatters hoarfrost like ashes. He reveals his word to Jacob; to Israel, his decrees and judgments. He has not dealt thus with other nations; he has not taught them his judgments.

Psalm 137:1-6
By the rivers of Babylon there we sat and wept, remembering Sion; on the poplars that grew there we hung up our harps. For it was there that they asked us, our captors, for songs, our oppressors, for joy. "Sing to us," hey said, "one of Sion's songs." O how could we sing the song of the Lord on foreign soil? If I forget you, Jerusalem, let my right hand wither! O let my tongue cleave to my palate if I remember you not, if I prize not Jerusalem as the first of my joys!

Then wait for the Lord, keep to his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land, and you will see the wicked destroyed. Mark the blameless, observe the upright; for the peaceful man a future lies in store, but sinners shall all be destroyed. No future lies in store for the wicked. But from the Lord comes the salvation of the just, their stronghold in time of distress. The Lord helps them and rescues them, rescues and saves them from the wicked: because they take refuge in him.

Rescue me from bloodshed, O God, God of my salvation, and then my tongue shall ring out your justice. O Lord, open my lips and my mouth shall proclaim your praise. Psalm 124
"If the Lord had not been on our side," let Israel say? "If the Lord had not been on our side when people rose against us, then would they have swallowed us alive when their anger was kindled. Then would the waters have engulfed us, the torrent gone over us; over our head would have swept the raging waters." Blest be the Lord who did not give us a prey to their teeth! It goes well for the man who deals generously and lends, who conducts his affairs with justice. He will never be moved; forever shall the just be remembered. Psalm 48:2-4, 9-11
Great is the Lord and highly to be praised in the city of our God. His holy mountain rises in beauty, the joy of all the earth. Mount Sion, in the heart of the North, the city of the Mighty King! God, in the midst of its itadels, has shown himself its stronghold. As we have heard, so we have seen in the city of our God, in the city of the Lord of hosts, which God establishes forever. Your merciful love, O God, we ponder in your temple. Your praise, O God, like your name, reaches the ends of the earth.

Psalm 118:24-29
This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice in it and be glad. O Lord, grant salvation; O Lord, grant success. Blest is he who comes in the name of the Lord. We bless you from the house of the Lord; the Lord is God, and has given us light. Go forward in procession with branches, as far as the horns of the altar. You are my God, I praise you. My God, I exalt you. Give praise to the Lord, for he is good; his mercy endures forever.

Scripture Wisdom 3:1, 6-9 The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, / and no torment shall touch them. As gold in the furnace, he proved them, / and as sacrificial offerings he took them to himself. / In the time of their judgment they shall shine / and dart about as sparks through stubble; / They shall judge nations and rule over peoples, / and the Lord shall be their King forever. / Those who trust in him shall understand truth, / and the faithful shall abide with him in love: / Because grace and mercy are with his holy ones, / and his care is with the elect.

Psalm 144:9-15
To you, O God, will I sing a new song; I will play on the ten-stringed harp to you who give kings their victory, who set David your servant free from the evil sword. Rescue me, free me from the hands of foreign foes, whose mouths speak only emptiness, whose right hands are raised in perjury. Let our sons then flourish like saplings, grown tall and strong from their youth; our daughters graceful as columns, as though they were carved for a palace. Let our barns be filled to overflowing with crops of every kind; our sheep increasing by thousands, tens of thousands in our fields, our cattle heavy with young. No ruined wall, no exile, no sound of weeping in our streets. Blessed the people of whom this is true; blessed the people whose God is the Lord!

Psalm 138:1-3, 6-8
I thank you, Lord, with all my heart; you have heard the words of my mouth. In the presence of the angels I praise you. I bow down toward your holy temple. I give thanks to your name for your merciful love and your faithfulness. You have exalted your name over all. On the day I called, you answered me; you increased the strength of my soul. The Lord is high, yet he looks on the lowly, and the haughty he knows from afar. You give me life though I walk amid affliction; you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes. With your right hand you save me; the Lord will accomplish this for me. O Lord, your merciful love is eternal; discard not the work of your hands.

Psalm 87
Founded by him on the holy mountain, the Lord loves the gates of Sion, more than all the dwellings of Jacob.Of you are told glorious things, you, O city of God! "Rahab and Babylon I will count among those who know me; of Tyre, Philistia, Ethiopia, it is told, ?There was this one born.' But of Sion it shall be said, ?Each one was born in her.' " He, the Most High, established it. In his register of peoples the Lord writes, "Here was this one born." The singers cry out in chorus, "In you, all find their home."

Psalm 18:2-7, 17-18
I love you, Lord, my strength; O Lord, my rock, my fortress, my savior; my God, my rock where I take refuge; my shield, my saving strength, my stronghold. I cry out, "Praised be the Lord!" and see, I am saved from my foes. The waves of death rose about me; the torrents of destruction assailed me; the snares of the grave surrounded me; the traps of death confronted me. In my anguish I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry to him reached his ears. From on high he reached down and seized me; he drew me forth from the mighty waters. He saved me from my powerful foe, from my enemies, whose strength I could not match.

Your decrees are wonderful indeed; therefore my soul obeys them. The unfolding of your word gives light, and understanding to the simple. Let my steps be guided by your promise; may evil never rule me.Redeem me from man's oppression, and I will keep your precepts. Let your face shine forth on your servant, and teach me your decrees. My eyes shed streams of tears, because of those who have not kept your law.

Psalm 86:1-8
Turn your ear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. Preserve my soul, for I am faithful; save the servant who trusts in you, my God. Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I cry to you all the day long. Gladden the soul of your servant, for I lift up my soul to you, O Lord. O Lord, you are good and forgiving, full of mercy to all who call to you. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer, and attend to my voice in supplication. In the day of distress, I will call to you, and surely you will answer me. Among the gods there is none like you, O Lord, nor works to compare with yours.

Psalm 42:2-4, 6
Like the deer that yearns for running streams, so my soul is yearning for you, my God. My soul is thirsting for God, the living God; when can I enter and appear before the face of God? My tears have become my bread, by day, by night, as they say to me all the day long, "Where is your God?" Why are you cast down, my soul; why groan within me? Hope in God; I will praise him yet again, my saving presence and my God.

Psalm 111:1-2, 5-10
I will praise the Lord with all my heart, in the meeting of the just and the assembly.Great are the works of the Lord, to be pondered by all who delight in them. He gives food to those who fear him; keeps his covenant ever in mind. His mighty works he has shown to his people by giving them the heritage of nations. His handiwork is justice and truth; his precepts are all of them sure, standing firm forever and ever, wrought in uprightness and truth. He has sent redemption to his people, and established his covenant forever. Holy his name, to be feared. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; understanding marks all who attain it. Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me; be my helper, O Lord. You have changed my mourning into dancing, removed my sackcloth and girded me with joy. So my soul sings psalms to you, and will not be silent. O Lord my God, I will thank you forever.

Save me, O Lord, for the holy ones are no more; the faithful have vanished from the sons of men. They babble vanities, one to another, with cunning lips, with divided heart. May the Lord destroy all cunning lips, the tongue that utters boastful words, those who say, "We prevail with our tongue; our lips are our own, who is our master?" "For the poor who are oppressed and the needy who groan, now will I arise," says the Lord; "I will grant them the salvation for which they long." Lord, I believe; I wish to believe in Thee Lord, let my faith be full and unreserved and let it penetrate my thought, my way of judging Divine things and human things. Lord, let my faith be joyful and give peace and gladness to my spirit and dispose it for prayer with God and conversation with men, so that the inner bliss of it's fortunate possession may shrine forth in sacred and secular conversations. Lord, let my faith be humble and not presume to be based on the experience of my thoughts and of my feelings; but let it surrender to the testimony of the Holy Spirit and not have any better guarantee than in docility to Tradition and to the authority of the Magisterium of Holy Church.
~Amen.~
O dear Jesus, I humbly implore You to grant Your special graces to our family. May our home be the shrine of peace, purity, love, labor and faith.I beg You, dear Jesus, to protect and bless all of us absent and present, living and dead.
O Mary, loving Mother of Jesus, and our Mother, pray to Jesus for our family, for all the familis of the world, to guard the cradle of the newborn, the schools of the young and their vocations.
Blessed St. Joseph, Holy Guardian of Jesus and Mary, assist us by your prayers in all the necessities of life. Ask of Jesus that special grace which He granted to you, to watch over our home at the pillow of the sick and dying, so that with Mary and with you, heaven may find our family unbroken in the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
~Amen.~
God be in my head, and in my understanding; God be in my eyes, and in my looking; God be in my mouth, and in my speaking; God be in my heart, and in my thinking; God be at my end, and at my departing.
Generous God, we give you thanks for the fruits of the earth and for the labors of those who bring them to our table. Continue to nourish us and all people with your steadfast love, which endures for ever and ever. ~Amen~
God of peace, we pray for those who have served our nation and who laid down their lives to protect and defend our freedom.
We pray for those who have fought, whose spirits and bodies are scarred by war, whose nights are haunted by memories too painful for the light of day.
We pray for those who serve us now, especially for those in harm's way. Shield them from danger and bring them home.
Turn the hearts and minds of our leaders and our enemies to the work of justice and a harvest of peace.
Spare the poor, Lord, spare the poor!
Let the peace you left us, the peace you gave us, be the peace that sustains, the peace that saves us.
Christ Jesus, hear us! Lord Jesus, hear our prayer!
God, our creator and redeemer, by your power Christ conquered death and returned to you in glory. May all your people who have gone before us in faith share his victory and enjoy the vision of your glory for ever, where Christ lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
~Amen~
God, Our Father, we pray that through your intercession of St. Nicholas you will protect our children. Keep them safe from harm and help them grow and become worthy in you sight.
Give them the strength to keep their faith in You; and to keep alive their joy in Your creation.
Through Jesus Christ Our Lord.
~Amen.~
Loving Father, we place our loved ones in your hands. We trust in You that they will be raised to life one day and will forever with Christ, as You have promised to all those who die in Christ.
We thank You for all your blessings, and for all that You have done in your Fatherly care for our loved ones and for us.
Father, hear our prayer and welcome our loved ones into paradise with You and all your saints. Help us as we comfort one another in the faith that one day, we will all meet together again in Christ.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

O God and Father of consolation, your merciful love toward us in unbounded. Take our darkness and turn it into the light of new life.
Have compassion on us in our sorrow, and be our refuge and strength. Lift us from the darkness of grief by the healing of your peace and light.
Jesus your Son died for us on the cross, and then rose from the dead, restoring life for all of us.
Help us to go forward in life to meet Him, so that after our own life on earth is ended, we may join our loved ones, where every tear will be wiped away.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord.
~Amen.~
O Jesus, You suffered and died for us; You understand suffering; Teach me to understand my sufferingg as You do; To bear it in union with You; To offer it with You to atone for my sins and to bring Your grace to souls in need. Calm my fears; increase my trust. May I gladly accept Your Holy Will and become more like You in trial. If it be Your Will, restore me to health so that I may work for Your Honor and Glory and the salvation of all men.
~Amen.~
Mary, help of the sick, pray for me.
O my God, I firmly believe that You are the one God in three divine Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I believe that Your divine Son became man, died for our sins, and that He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because You have revealed them Who can neither decieve nor be deceived.
O my God, relying on Your almighty power and infinite mercy and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of Your grace, and the life everlasting through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer.
O My God, I love You above all things, with my whole heart and soul, because You are all good and worthy of all love. I love my neighbor as myself for the love of You. I forgive all who have injured me and ask pardon of all whom I have injured.

But above all I recommend to You the priests dearest to me; the priest who baptized me; the priests who absolved me from my sins; the priests at whose Masses I assisted or who gave me Your Body and Blood in Holy Communion; the priests who taught and instructed me; all the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way.
O Jesus, keep them all close to Your heart, and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity.

O gentle Heart of Jesus, ever present in the Blessed Sacrament, ever consumed with burning love for the poor captive souls in Purgatory, have mercy on them.

The Fifteen (15) Prayers of St. Bridget
|
The Fifteen prayers that follow are, according to a tradition that goes back to St. Bridget (14th century), to be recited each day, or at least each Friday for one year, if possible. Those who make this meditation with faith and devotion will obtain the graces of special assistance at the hour of their death. These same graces could also be given to every person that the supplicants would desire to entrust along with themselves to the mercy of God.
Praised be You, O Jesus, my Lord, for all the sufferings that You voluntarily accepted to bear for us during Your whole life and especially at the time of Your Passion. On Holy Thursday, You humbly washed the feet of all Your Apostles, thus leaving them a wonderful example of humility and true spiritual greatness. At the Paschal repast of the Last Supper, You offered under the species of bread and wine Your own Body and Your own Blood in sacrifice for our sins. Out of love, You gave them as nourishment to Your Apostles, thus preparing them in the best possible way for Your holy Passion that was soon to be accomplished. In consideration of this total sacrifice of Yourself under a sacramental form, I beg You, my Savior, to purify us from all pride and egotism. Fortified by Your holy Eucharist, may we also follow in Your footsteps and offer our lives for the love of God, the purification of our souls, and the salvation of our brothers and sisters on earth!
~Amen
Our Father.... Hail Mary.... Glory Be....
In the garden of Gethsemane, You confided in Your three disciples Peter, James, and John: "My soul is sorrowful even to death" So great was Your anguish that a bloody sweat issued from Your innocent Body. Yet You lovingly willed to accomplish to the end of our redemption praying thus: "Father...not my will but Yours be done". In consideration of the horrible agony of soul, I beg You, my Savior, to make us worthy to live our last moments in conformity with the will of God and after Your example. Purify us, protect us, and lead us without hinderance to Your most Holy Father. Yes, we wish to obey His loving will, no matter what it costs, but stay with us always, most sweet and merciful Lord Jesus! ~Amen
Our Father.... Hail Mary.... Glory Be....
Praised be You, O Jesus, my Saviour, for humbly accepting to be interrogated by Caiaphas and submitting to the judgment of Pilate, even though You were the Judge of all! In consideration of Your sublime willingness to be so misunderstood by the leaders and teachers of Your day, I ask You, my Savior, to preserve forever in us a child's heart. For it is to children and those who resemble them that Your heavenly Father loves to reveal His secrets of love. ~Amen
Our Father..... Hail Mary..... Glory Be....
O Jesus, my Savior, be mindful of the profound sadness that You felt when Your enemies surrounded You and tormented You in a thousand ways. They attacked You, spit in Your glorious face, struck You, and even slapped You, saying: "Prophesy for us, Messiah: who is it that struck you?" Led before the Sanhedrin, You endured in silence the accusations of numberous false witnesses. Then, brought before Herod, You were treated like an imposter magician and a fool. You were returned to Pilate derisively clothed in a robe of royal purple. In consideration of these torments that You endured with great patience, I beg You, my Savior, to deliver us from all our visible and invisible enemies so that through Your grace we may attain eternal salvation. ~Amen.
Our Father.... Hail Mary.... Glory Be....
Praised be You, O Jesus, my Lord, for letting Yourself be bound to the pillar where You were atrociously scourged, after which You were manifested all bloody at the tribunal of Pilate as the innocent Lamb, standing and already immolated. In consideration of Your infinite patience, I beg You, my Savior, to strengthen our own patience in the trials of life, especially those that come to us from the hands of unjust and cruel persons. Grant this grace to us and conversion to them. ~Amen
Our Father.... Hail Mary.... Glory Be....
Praised be You, O Jesus, my Lord, for having willed to be condemned to death like a criminal to bring about our salvation. You painfully carried Your Cross to the place of Your Passion. After Your executioners removed Your garments, they immobilized Your members, pierced them with large nails, affixed You to the Cross by painfully stretching out Your aching Body. In consideration of these torments, I beg You, my Savior, to grant us a hatred for sin and a love for what is pleasing to You. ~Amen
Our Father.... Hail Mary.... Glory Be....
Eternal glory to You, O Jesus, my Savior, for from the gibbet of the Cross, naked and miserable, You saw Yourself abandoned by all Your relatives, disciples, and friends, with no one near You except for a few faithful souls. In the midst of an ocean of sufferings, You did not cease to pray. You interceded for Your enemies by saying: "Father, forgive them, they know not what they do." Gazing lovingly on Your noble Mother who had never sinned, You consoled her by entrusting to her Your beloved disciple with these words: "Woman, behold your son." Then turning to John, You said to him: "Behold, your mother." In consideration of this great mercy that You showed for us even to the Cross, I beg You, my Savior, to impress in our souls the remembrance of Your Passion, perfect repentance for our sins, and a greater understanding of Your Love for us. ~Amen
Our Father.... Hail Mary.... Glory Be....
Praised be You eternally, O Jesus, my Lord, for in the torments of Your last agony You willed to give all sinners the hope of pardon by promising the glory of paradise to the thief who turned to You. You reassured him with these words: "Today you will be with me in Paradise." Through this abyss of compassion for sinful souls, I beg You, my Savior, to show us a similar mercy at the hour of our death. ~Amen
Our Father.... Hail Mary..... Glory Be....
Eternal praise be Yours, O Jesus, my Lord, for those long hours during which on the Cross You endured for us the greatest pains and the most extreme anguish. This acute sufferings from Your wounds also pierced Your most holy soul. In Your humanity, which bore all the weight of the sin of the world. You felt like one rejected by Your Father. When all the prophecies of suffering were finally accomplished in You, You could cry out: "It is finished". Then, before letting Your Heart break under the impulsion of Your Divine Love, You directed Your last prayer toward heaven: "Father ,into your hands I commend my spirit". Then bowing Your head, You humbly entrusted Your spirit into the hands of God the Father. In Consideration of Your death out of love, which abolished Satan's domination of our wounded race, I beg You, my Savior, to grant us the immense grace of dying like You. May we die with sentiments of love and confidence toward the Father, totally united with You and Your blessed Mother and free from all attachment to sin. ~Amen
Our Father..... Hail Mary..... Glory Be.....
Praised be You, O Jesus, my Lord, for redeeming our souls by Your precious Blood and Your holy Death. YOu descended to the kingdom of the dead to seek out all the just souls who were awaiting You from the time of Adam, and You mercifully led them out of exile to eternal life. In consideration for the fulfillment of Biblical promises concerning the entry of the just into paradise, I beg You , my Savior, to convert us totally and enduringly, so that we can all come to join You in heaven where You have already prepared a place for us in the company of Your Mother, the Angels, and the Saints. ~Amen
Our Father.... Hail Mary.... Glory Be....
Praised be You, O Jess, my Lord, for in order to better manifest Your Love to us, You allowed Your Heart to be pierced by a lance, thus liberating a precious stream of Blood and Water, symbols of the Eucharist and Baptism. Since You had already expired, this blow was sorrowfully felt by Your Mother who, at the foot of the Cross, continued to pray. In this consideration of Mary's motherly sorrow and of Your Heart opened for us as a Source of purification and holiness, I beg You, my Savior, to strengthen our faith in Your Sacraments of salvation, especially the Eucharist in which You actualize for us Your redemptive offering of the Last Supper and Calvary. ~Amen
Our Father.... Hail Mary.... Glory Be....
Praised be You, O Jesus, my Lord, because You willed that Your most holy Body should be taken down from the Cross by Your friends Joseph and Nicodemus and given into the care of Your afflicted Mother. Your Body was thus washed, wrapped with cloths, placed in the tomb, and finally guarded by soldiers. In consideration of the sentiments of infinite distress felt by Your Mother and Your friends as the accompanied Your broken Body to the tomb, I beg You, my Savior, to have mercy on those who die alone and have no one to weep and pray for them. ~Amen
Our Father.... Hail Mary.... Glory Be....
Glory to You, O Jesus, my Lord, for on the morning of the third day, You rose from the dead and manifested Yourself to witnesses of Your choice. Glory again to You, for after forty days You ascended to heaven in the sight of a vast number of Your disciples and there crowned the just whom You had delivered from the netherworld. In consideration of these glorious events, I beg You, my Savior, to strengthen our hope in the fulfillment of all Your promises concerning our eternal life. ~Amen
Our Father..... Hail Mary.... Glory Be.....
Eternal joy and praise to You, O Jesus, my Lord, for according to Your promise You sent the Holy Spirit into the hearts of Your faithful where He stirred up a very great love for God and neighbor. In consideration of this pouring out of Your Love upon the first disciples, I beg You, my Savior, to grant also to us, according to our needs, the effusion of Your Spirit, so that we may be more and more inflamed with the supernatural Fire that makes Saints. ~Amen
Our Father..... Hail Mary..... Glory Be.....
Eternally blessed, praised, and glorified may You be, O Jesus, my Lord, for You are enthroned in Your Kingdom of Heaven in the glory of Your Divinity, living in a resurrected way with the most holy Body that was formed in the womb of the Immaculate Virgin. And it is in this glory that You will come on the last day to judge the living and the dead. In consideration of these holy mysteries of salvation that we have meditated upon in the presence of Your Son, O Father most holy, grant us the grace to share one day the eternal Joy of the children of God. ~Amen

I will visibly help them at the moment of their death-- they will see the face of their mother. 7. ~Amen.~
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that w are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help

|
One of the most popular novena's dedicated to Our Lady. Leading us to meditate on the Sorrows of the Mother of Christ, at the moment of His Passion, it is in some way the Marian equivalent of the Fifteen Prayers of St. Bridget. This novena is prayed for nine (9) consecutive days, if possible before the image of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
O Mother of Perpetual Help, I love to come to pray at the foot of your wondrous image! It inspires in me sentiments of the most lively and most filial trust. You hold in your arms Jesus, my Savior and my God. He is the All Powerful One, the absolute Master of life and death, the sovereign Dispenser of all good and all graces. And you are His Mother. Therefore, you have every right to pray to Him and every right to be heard. Moreover, He has often proven to us poor sinners- that He cannot and will not refuse you anything. Hence, I address your all powerful intercession, O Mother of Jesus, and I beg you to grant me during this novena the grace (indicate the intention for this novena). I come to ask your intercessions with complete confidence, because I am convinced that you never cease to pray for your children, and thus also for me.
Our Father..... Hail Mary.... Memorare.....
O Mother of Perpetual Help, in this Child Jesus still so feeble Whom you press to your heart, you see more than the Son of God and your Son. You see also all human beings-- who have become your children through the will of God and through your self giving at Nazareth and on Calvary. You never forget the word of you Son on Calvary Who, considering His disciple John and all of us in him, said to you "Behold, your son" ( John 19:26).
O Mother, with the directness of an unhappy child, I come to tell you how I suffer and amd tempted to despair. However, I know that I am your child and that you hear all our prayers. O Mother, you know my request: please answer it for the great glory of your Son, my Savior!
Our Father.... Hail Mary.... Memorare....
O Mother of Perpetual Help, I love to contemplate your blessed image. It speaks to me with eloquence about all your greatness. On your right I see Gabriel the Archangel, the Divine Ambassador who greeted you with the absolutely unique title of "Full of Grace." On the left I see Michael the Archangel whose presence reminds us that you command all the heavenly hosts. In your right hand you hold the hands of the King of Kings. All this reminds me that you are the Woman Blessed among all women, the most beautiful ornament of the universe, the creature alone judged worthy to become the Mother of the Word Incarnate. You are the Immaculata, the All Holy, the Masterpiece of the Most High. you are the Queen of Heaven and Earth, the great honor of our humanity. O Mother most admirable, instead of frightening me, your incomparable greatness only increases my confidence. If God, in His goodness, has made you so holy and so powerful, it is for our salvation, and if you rejoice over your privileges, it is because they better enable you to help us. O Mother without compare, grant me the peace that I ask of your maternal tenderness.
Our Father.... Hail Mary..... Memorare....
O Mother of Perpetual help, your maternal gaze comforts our anxious and wounded hearts. You appear to us like the sacred Stem that gives rise to the Flower of all purity and all virtue, your Jesus, our God. As we offer Him through your maternal hands, our hearts are opened more widely to His coming and to His plans for us. On your forehead there shines a radiant star. Indeed, are you not the "Morning Star" who announce the day of salvation and redemption? Are you not the one who recalls to us the Gospel promise of the day without end and a blessed eternity? Are you not also the "Star of the Sea" who radiates hope amidst the blackest of storms? O Mother most amiable, how light you render for us the burden of duty and how sweet the yoke of Jesus Christ! The remembrance of you puts joy in my heart and the invocation of your name restores peace to my troubled soul. Let me always repeat before you: O Mother so worthy of love, I love you! Through you and with you, I love your Divine Son! O Holy Mother of hope, hear me!
Our Father..... Hail Mary..... Memorare....
O Mother of Perpetual Help, I find in your holy image another reason to hope in your goodness. You always show yourself therein as the Mother of Sorrows. The One whom you hold tight in your arms is Jesus, crucified in His heart before being crucified in His flesh. Already the instruments of the Passion are represented to Him and you suffer with Him at this prophetic sight. Like you, O Mary, I compassionate with the sufferings of your Son and, like Him, I compassionate with your own sufferings. My compassion is all the more ardent as it is our sins that by nailing Jesus to the Cross have tormented your most loving soul. Today, it is in the name of your sorrows that I pray. Grant me contrition for all my sins and the courage to avoid them in the future. And be pleased to favor the request that I address to you in this novena.
Our Father..... Hail Mary..... Memorare....
O Mother of Perpetual Help, because you are good and are also our Mother, suffering has let you to have compassion on our pains. I see this compassion toward us in your eyes shining with tender pity. They are fixed less on your Divine Son than on your poor children on earth. How sweet it is for a crushed soul to encounter a friendly heart that knows how to be compassionate! And when that heart is the heart of a mother, and of a mother such as you, it is one of the greatest consolations in life. Therefore, I come at your feet to regain my courage, O compassionate Mother! I am sure that you will not abandon your child. Hear the cry of my wretchedness. Speak the word of consolation to my soul and grant me the favor that I ask of your goodness.
Our Father.... Hail Mary..... Memorare.....
O Mother of Perpetual Help, you are the Mediatrix of all grace. Yes, you are the treasury of God Who desires that all grace should pass through your hands before it is given to us. Your image reminds me that you are the Mother of Jesus, the Mother of Sorrows and my Mother also. As the Mother of Jesus, you are most closely united with the Heart of your Son. As the Mother of Sorrows, you united your sufferings with those of Jesus and cooperated in our salvation. As the Mother of human beings, you accepted to come to our aid. Yes, I know, a soul faithful in invoking you is sure of your protection and a soul protected by you can not be lost. It is thus with assurance that I have recourse to you. Obtain for me, after your example, fidelity in the service of the things of God. And also obtain for me the favor that during this novena I request from your maternal tenderness.
Our Father..... Hail Mary.... Memorare.....
O Mother of Perpetual Help, sometimes a feeling of fear grips my heart. Indeed, when I think of how wretched I am, I find it audacious on my part to dare to address you and ask for your favors. However, your sweet image seems to say to me "Confidence, my child! Am I not the Mother of Mercy who seek not merits to reward but evils to heal? Does not my title of Mother of Perpetual Help proclaim that God sends me to you to relieve you in His Name of all your miseries?" It is thus to your clemency that I appeal today, O Mary. My confidence rests entirely on your indulgent and compassionate goodness. It is for you to protect me, to help me, and to console me in the best way you know.
Our Father..... Hail Mary..... Memorare......
O Mother of Perpetual Help, I have reached the end of this novena, wherein each day I have come to kneel at your feet. Today, more than ever, my supplication rises ardently and confidently to you. I have no doubt that you have heard the cry of my prayer and will grant what I ask or an even more precious grace. Through your Son crucified for us, through your sorrows united with His, through your merciful love, through your title as Mother of Perpetual Help, grant my petition if such is the will of God! Dear Mother, my confidence is so great that from this moment I will say thank you! Thank you for the past graces; than you for those that I await from your inexhaustible love. O Mother of Consolation, as Jesus gave you to us, now give us Jesus forever, for He is the Grace of graces! ~ AMEN
Our Father.... Hail Mary..... Memorare....

St. Gerard Majella was born near Naples in 1726. He was an apprentice tailor and was subjected to very harsh treatment and frequent unmerited approaches. He accepted everything with peace and patience, often repeating the following: "I desire at all costs to become a Saint, and I have the opportunity to do so. If I lose it, I lose it forever!" In 1748 he joined the Redemptorists and rapidly attained exceptional union with God. At his words, sinners became converted, the sick recovered their health, and miracles were multiplied. He died on October 15, 1755. St. Gerard is known as a guide and protector of young children, a helper to mothers who are expecting, and for other special favors and salvation for sinners.
Novena is said for 9 days, followed by 3 Hail Mary's. If possible, make a confession or receive communion prior to the start of this novena.
St. Gerard Majella, humble friar so powerful and good, God seems to want to pour down on us through your hands the most varied graces. Obtain for us the grace of corresponding better like you to the will of God, of being more faithful in praying to the Mother of the Redemeer, and if Providence allows, of being relieved from all our ills. O powerful protector, help of Christian families, strengthen the courage of moehtes and preserve the souls and bodies of children. For the sick, obtain health; for troubled hearts, peace; for guilty souls, pardon; for sinners, conversion; and for the young people in search of their way, light about their vocation. For everybody, obtain an increase of generosity in teh practice of the evangelical virtues, a constant fidelity to Christ and His Mother, and ultimately perserverance until death in the service of God.

To St. Therese of the Child Jesus

|
Therese was born in Alencon in 1873 and entered the Carmel of Lisieux at the young age of 15 and died there on September 30, 1897. She was consumed by much love for God as by tuberculosis. Therese remained faithful to God in the midst of the greatest darkness and despite all types of moral and physicial trials, she succeeded in being attentive to her Sisters and the missionary needs of the church. St. Therese is invoked for the most delicate and difficult cases. People pray to St. Therese for cures or alleviations of "terminal" illnesses' for the conversion of hardened sinners; for consolation of persons strongly tempted by doubt and despair; for deliverence of persecuted Christians; for assistance of missionary's; for the protection of persons threatened one way or the other; for the souls who died without the aid of the Church. The graces obtained by her intercessions are solidy attested.
The prayers should be said for nine (9) days, if possible before a statue or picture of St. Therese of the Child Jesus.
Dear Little St. Teresa of the Child Jesus, great Saint of the pure love of God, I come today to entrust to you my ardent desire. Yes, very humbly, I come to ask your powerful intercession for the following grace (name it). Shortly before your death, you asked God the favor of spending your heaven in doing good on earth. You even prophesied that you would pour down on us little ones a shower of roses. The Lord has heard your prayer: millions of pilgrims bear witness to it at Lisieux and throughout the world. Bolstered by this certainty that you do not reject the lowly and afflicted, I come with confidence to ask for your help. Intercede for me with your crucified and glorified Spouse. Tell Him my desire. He will listen to you. He will listen to you as He listens to the Virgin Mary, for like her, you never refused Him anything on earth. Little Teresa, victim of love of the Lord, patroness of the missions and model of simple and trusting souls, I address myself to you as to an older sister who is more powerful and more loving. Obtain for me the grace I seek if it is the will of God. Blessed are you, Little Teresa, for all the good that you have done for us and that you wish to continue to lavish on us until the end of the world. Yes, may you be a thousand times blessed and thanked for thus enabling us in some way to touch the goodness and mercy of Our God~ Amen

The Sacred Heart Novena is said on the First Friday in nine (9) consecutive months.
The Promises of Our Lord to St. Margaret Mary for Souls devoted to His Sacred Heart. 1. I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life. 2. I will establish peace in their houses. 3. I will comfort them in all their afflictions. 4. I will be their secure refuge during life and above all in death. 5. I will bestow a large blessing upon all their undertakings. 6. Sinners shall find in My Heart the source and the infinite ocean of mercy. 7. Tepid souls shall grow fervent. 8. Fervent souls shall quickly mount to higher perfection. 9. I will bless every place where a picture of My Heart shall be set up and honored. 10. I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts. 11. Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart, never to be blotted out. 12. I promise thee in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My All Powerful Love will grant to all those who communicate on the First Friday in nine (9) consecutive months the grace of final penitence; they shall not die in My disgrace nor without receiving their Sacraments; My Divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.
O most Holy Heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore you, I love you, and with a lively sorrow for my sins, I offer You this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure and wholly obedient to Your will. Grant, good Jesus, that I may live in You and for You. Protect me in the midst of danger; comfort me in my afflictions; give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs, Your blessing on all that I do, and the grace of a holy death.
